Glasgow Raptors 26 - 47 Caledonian Thebans
On Saturday 12 August, we welcomed our IGR neighbours Caledonian Thebans to Clydebank for the first preseason friendly of the year; a good opportunity to dust off the cobwebs.
The visitors started the brighter side - their powerful pack and strong scrum doing significant damage - and scored several tries in the first 20 minutes. However, the Raptors came alive, with the forwards fronting up at the set piece and breakdown and the backs finding joy out wide, to make the rest of the match a very competitive affair. Unfortunately, the early Thebans dominance proved too big a hurdle to overcome.
The Raptors player of the day was inside centre Che Donaldson-Brook for strong running with ball in hand and a dominant defensive display.
A big thank you goes to our supporters who came to cheer us on, and to the referee for a fine game of rugby. Finally, congratulations to Thebans on the win; the Raptors are looking forward to continuing the rivalry at the Clinic in October!
